Acer P5271i DLP Projector – A Comparison

Acer P5271i Projector Comparison

Though the Acer P5271i projector is not from the same series as the Acer X1261P (which we recently reviewed), we will compare the P5271i to the X1261P to give you an idea of which Acer projector is best for your particular presentation needs!

The Acer P5271i wireless DLP projector is fairly inexpensive to begin with, listed at $749 MSRP (though undoubtedly running for even cheaper at street price). The P5271i projector is of standard XGA (1024×768) resolution, just as the X1261P is. The P5271i claims 3100 lumens of brightness, therefore equipped to handle the ambient light in your conference room or classroom setting on a moderate sized screen. The P5271i also has an above average contrast ratio of 3700:1, meaning that your colors will pop and not appear as washed out as a lower contrast projector.

The P5271i weighs in at 9 lbs., which is on the larger side as far as portable projectors are concerned. So if you’re a road warrior who needs extreme portability since you’re constantly carrying your projector with you on flights, you might want to opt for a slightly lighter, less bulky projector. But if you’re planning on sticking your projector in a single conference room or classroom, or even if you just intend to move it from room to room or floor to floor in your office building, 9 lbs. is just fine.

Also a plus is the P5271i’s HDMI input, a feature that not all business projectors at this price point offer. HDMI allows you to transmit both digital video and audio during your presentation from, for example, output devices such as DVD players, BluRay players, gaming consoles, satellite boxes or cable boxes. HDMI guarantees great picture and sound for high-def content. The P5271i also offers a Monitor (VGA) output so that you can connect your computer monitor to your projector and show the images on your laptop to your audience during a presentation.
