Casio XJ-M145 DLP Projector – Review Summary

Casio XJ-M145 Projector: Bottom Line

The Casio XJ-M145 deserves serious consideration from the school district or business that uses projectors on a daily basis and therefore needs to keep maintenance costs at a minimum.  With a typical lamp replacement occurring at 3000 hours and at an average cost of $200, Casio estimates that the XJ-M145 user will save $1000 (five lamp replacements) over the life of the projector.  This is probably conservative and even one more replacement would result in a total savings that’s equal to the cost of the projector.

In addition to the cost savings over the life of the projector, the Casio XJ-M145 offers a host of features few projectors can match.  From the included wireless network presentation capability (which includes the ability to present from a SmartPhone), to the PC-free presentation capability (which includes video as well as standard presentation formats like PowerPoint), the XJ-M145 covers all the bases when it comes to presentation flexibility.

Do we wish it was a little brighter with better color in its Standard mode?  Yes, but for all except the most critical user, the color purity will not be an issue and the projector is bright enough for most venues.  If a higher lumen output is required, Casio has the XJ-M155, which is rated at 3000 lumens.

The Casio XJ-M145 sets the bar pretty high for competitors looking to provide a high brightness, mercury lamp-free projector at an affordable price.
