Epson Home Cinema 700 – Warranty

The Epson Home Cinema 700 comes with a two year warranty. In addition, the Home Cinema 700 comes with Epson’s two year overnight replacement program. Translated, that means that if you have a problem with your Home Cinema 700 that is covered by its warranty, Epson will overnight you a replacement projector (new, or, more likely a refurbished Home Cinema 700. When it arrives, you return your broken Epson projector in the box the replacement came in. Epson pays all freight costs. In addition, in terms of support, Epson offers their Private Line – a phone number that takes you directly to projector support, saving time and getting you right to the folks you want to be talking with. We have found that in most cases you are talking to a support person in less than 2 minutes! That makes it pretty much the best warranty you will find on a 720p resolution home projector.

Most projectors in this price range come with just one year of warranty coverage. All but one of the rest come with two years. No other company offers a 2 year replacement program. The warranty package is the same as Epson’s higher performance, and more expensive Home Cinema 720 projector. By comparison, Optoma offers one year on their HD65 and HD71. Other one year warranties include the Mitsubishi HC1600 andthe BenQ W500.

The Sanyo PLV-Z60 has a three year warranty, the longest of any of the 720p projectors, but no replacement program. Also of note, Sanyo repairs initially defective projectors, whereas Epson and all other manufacturers consider an initial defect as a DOA and allow the dealers to simply exchange it for another new projector.
The Panasonic PT-AX200U comes with only one year warranty though they have offered, off and on, a 2nd year warranty, as a mail-in rebate.

Bottom line, overall, you really can’t beat the warranty, although the Sanyo PLV-Z60 warranty is a year longer.
