The Epson PowerLite 675W has a control panel that is well laid out. It is identical to the PowerLite 680’s control panel that I reviewed last year. When facing the lens, the Power button is on the far left, surrounded by the Status, Lamp, and Temp indicator lights. Next to that, in a stacked formation, are the Home and Source Search buttons. Source Search automatically cycles through the connected sources until it finds one to connect to. Moving over to the right, there is the standard directional arrow keys surrounding an Enter button. As is the case with many projectors, the PowerLite 675W’s arrow keys serve dual functions. Up and Down control Keystone Correction, while the Left and Right arrow keys control the zoom. Wait, zoom? That’s digital zoom, not optical. This feature allows you to punch into the image and make it larger, but the lens itself is not actually zooming in. On either side of the Up arrow key is the Menu button (left), and the Esc button (right), for opening and exiting the menu system. All that said, you’re likely to never use this control panel except during the initial setup. From then on, you’ll be using the highly capable remote control – up next. The Remote Control Guys – I’m running out of ways to talk about this remote control. Epson has the same one for all of the business and education projectors I’ve reviewed of theirs so far, not to mention the Epson Home Cinema 2150 I reviewed as well. That’s a home entertainment projector. I find it highly likely that Epson uses this same remote for other home entertainment projectors I haven’t reviewed. That said, I’m copying the text from my review of the Epson PowerLite 680, with minor edits: The PowerLite 675W’s remote control is a bit thick, but is very well laid out with a lot of “stuff.” The remote is separated into sections, with the top one featuring a black background, a Power and Source Search, as the basic “hot keys” for Computer, HDMI/Video, USB and LAN inputs to switch between them quickly. The section below is a basic number pad (1-9 and 0) and a Num(ber) button to the left of the 0 and an ID button to its right. The ID button is for choosing which projector to control for multi-projector set ups. The Num button changes the keypad exclusively to a number keypad, which is useful because many of these buttons serve a dual function. The number 3 is also the Link Menu button, which displays the main menu of the connected HDMI device. The 4 button – Auto – automatically adjusts position, tracking and sync settings. The number 5 adjusts the aspect ratio, 6 is your shortcut to shifting through Color Modes, and 8 activates Pen Mode. Below the number pad is a standard arrow keypad. The classic up, down, left and right buttons surround the enter key, with a Menu button on the top left, the Esc button on the top right – just like the control panel. Below, to the left of the down key, is the User button, which is customizable with multiple functions. On the opposite side, there is a Pointer button, which makes a pointer arrow magically appear on the screen, that you can move to point at a specific area of interest using the arrow keys on the remote. This function works beautifully. Under the arrow keypad are the buttons for Page, E-Zoom and Volume. Each of these functions have two buttons – up and down for Page, and +/– for E-Zoom and Volume. Below those are several buttons, including A/V mute for muting audio, Split, which splits the screen between two projected images (awesome), Freeze for stopping video action, and a Home button. That’s it for the remote. The Menus The Image Menu allows for the adjustment of image quality settings such as brightness, contrast, saturation, tiny, sharpness, color temperature, image enhancement, as well as advanced features. The Signal Settings Menu is where you can adjust the resolution, aspect ratio, tracking, sync., and position. There is also a sub-menu to control the HDMI video range, input signal and video signal. The Settings Menu adjusts the projector’s feature settings, such as geometric correction, split screen, zoom, image shift, volume, HDMI Link (allows the remote to control HDMI-connected devices that support the CEC standard), lock setting, pointer shape, mic input, remote receiver, and the user button. The Extended Menu allows for the adjustment of the home screen, display, closed captioning, user’s logo, projection position (front, front/upside down, rear, rear/upside down), operation, A/V, multi-projection and language settings. The Network Settings Menu adjust the type of networking (wired/wireless), view network info for both, display the QR code, and access network configuration. All stuff for your IT guy to work with. The ECO Menu controls the aspects of the projector that contribute to more economical operation such as power consumption, light optimizer, sleep mode, sleep mode timer, A/V mute timer, standby mode and ECO display. The Info Menu contains the projector info such as lamp hours, source, input signal, resolution, video signal, refresh rate, sync info, status, serial number, event ID and version number. The Reset Menu resets the lamp hours and all configuration. Same deal – Epson’s menus for their business and education projectors are pretty much the same across the board, except when you get into the interactive projectors, which this is not. Those ones tend to have a couple more features to play with. There are eight main categories to the menu – Image, Signal, Settings, Extended, Network, ECO, Info and Reset. 1.
