The Epson Powerlite 99w may well be Epson’s definitive all around workhorse business and education portable/fixed install projector, on both performance and value.
The Powerlite 99W projects a very sharp image that is very bright and providing good colors.
When operating in it brightest modes the unit supplied for this review exceeded the manufacturer’s rated 3,000 lumens. Larger and far brighter than any pocket projector it should still be considered a portable projector that could easily be moved between classrooms or conference rooms.
The Epson PowerLite 99W is a compact Classroom projector offering a very bright image and features well suited to the typical classroom environment. It projects a very sharp image, with its native 1280 x 800 resolution, and offers picture modes providing good color accuracy. While the PowerLite 99W is not a Pico or Pocket class of projector, it is a compact unit making it easy to move between classrooms (or conference rooms), when it has not been permanently mounted. With a retail price of $749 and a relatively long 5,000 lamp life (in normal mode), it provides an economical solution for the education market. The PowerLite 99W is one model within a series Epson’s PowerLite 9x line of classroom projectors that starts with the entry-level model PowerLite 97, which sells for $200 less than the PowerLite 99W reviewed here.
