InFocus IN2116 Projector – Performance

IN2116 Projector - Brightness

The InFocus is rated at 3000 lumens. The majority of projector manufacturers exegerate their brightness levels and the InFocus IN2116 was exception. When I tested the brightness while the projector was in normal factory default mode the InFocus put out 1442 lumens and when I switched over the low light mode I got a reading of 1030 lumens. The 1442 measured lumens was still very bright from an audience member perspective. There was a fair amount of ambient daylight in the room and the projected image was still very visible with a very nice contrast to it. I did notice that there were a few bright spots when testing. The bottom center of the screen reported brightness levels almost 10 percent higher than all other surrounding areas of the screen. This however was not very noticeable to the naked eye.

Projecting a solid colored background showed a very consistent illuminated picture even with the brightness levels being inconsistend across the image. . There was a significant performance increase when the projector was switched into Brightmode. I measured 3028 lumens. Video mode dropped the InFocus IN2116 to a low brightness level of 1153 lumens, but the image was still vibrant and was good enough to handle most conference rooms and classrooms.
