Prior to CMS calibration, the color accuracy of the USER 1 mode (which I chose for SDR calibration) was very good. The white balance did average around 7500K, which pushed all the colors off their targets. Once the white balance was calibrated, all 6 colors improved.

The JVC NX7 offers several Color Profile options and there are individual CMS (Color Management Settings) for each color profile. For the most accurate color reproduction of SDR content I selected REC.709. I only had to make small adjustments (no more than 5 clicks) to all 6 colors to achieve very good color performance.

Out of the box, the grayscale and color points of the HDR10 picture mode measured similar to the NATURAL (SDR) picture mode. When viewing HDR10 and HLG content, I chose the BT2020 color profile which engages the projector’s color filter. With the filter engaged, the JVC NX7 color gamut measured 99.7% of DCI-P3. Without the filter ehgaged, the NX7 could reproduce about 89% of DCI-P3.

The maximum brightness is reduced by approximately 10%, when the color filter was engaged.  I set the LAMP POWER to High to maintain as much remaining brightness as possible.
