LG Shows New BU53PST ProBeam 4K UHD Short-Throw Projector

by Philip Boyle

Today at the InfoComm tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV, LG Business Solutions USA unveiled its latest professional projection offering.

LG may be relatively new to the business projector market but they have leveraged their decades of experience building top-selling consumer products and commercial display solutions to create extremely competitive ProBeam projectors. Business users benefit from the latest advancements in picture quality and connectivity found in the LG consumer projectors while also receiving the reliability, warranties, and service support expected from a business-focused projector.

The LG ProBeam BU53PST is a new 4K UHD short-throw laser projector with a 0.94 short-throw ratio. Utilizing a DLP (.47″ DMD) with XPR technology, this ProBeam projector’s DMD can be shifted in four directions to reproduce four individual pixels fast enough that our eyes see 8.8 million pixels at the same time. DLP DMD Chips are incredibly durable, with a rated life of up to 100,000 hours. The BU53PST’s ability to create large projections in a small footprint area makes it perfect for business use, either to provide a large video screen in a small meeting room or to fill public spaces with crisp, bright images on surfaces up to 300 inches diagonally. Dual 5-watt speakers provide powerful built-in audio, which allows the projector to serve as an all-in-one solution.

The ProBeam BU53PST uses a laser phosphor light source with a sealed light path preventing dust particles from settling and obstructing the projected image. With 5,000 ANSI lumens brightness and an over 25 percent shorter throw ratio than LG’s other ProBeam projectors, the versatile LG ProBeam BU53PST can project bright, high-resolution images in a wide variety of environments. With 20,000 hours of estimated life, the ProBeam BU53PST’s laser light source is expected to be able to operate eight hours a day for almost seven years with virtually no maintenance.

Ideal for commercial signage or even home golf simulators

“Professional integrators can confidently recommend the ProBeam BU53PST to both new and existing clients for various installations,” Dan Smith, Vice President of Business Development at LG Business Solutions USA, said at InfoComm 2022, where the projector was introduced. “This new projector has a short-throw distance, reliable mercury-free laser lamp, 5,000 lumens brightness as well as a host of other included features. These attributes make this short-throw projector ideal for commercial signage or even home golf simulators.”

4K UHD resolution of 3,840 x 2160 pixels

The ProBeam BU53PST offers full 4K UHD resolution of 3,840 x 2160 pixels, a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and HDR10 compatibility, so all of the latest 4K game and video content is presented in its full glory. The projector’s Dynamic Tone Mapping improves HDR and provides a significant improvement in dynamic range as well as color. HDR lets you see more detail in the shadows and the bright areas and delivers more saturated lifelike colors. The BU53PST can dynamically measure HDR metadata, which improves the projector’s HDR performance. The advanced 12-point edge adjustment provides broad latitude to correct the projected image for a wide variety of screen surfaces or installations.

The ProBeam BU53PST is also an ideal display solution for golf simulator systems because it can create high-resolution, bright images with a minimal physical footprint while maximizing screen size. With the ability to display fine details down to a blade of grass, the ProBeam BU53PST can give users an immersive virtual golfing experience, whether they are playing at home or in a local entertainment venue.

Additionally, the ProBeam BU53PST supports HDMI ARC and HDMI SIMPLINK, making it simple to pair the projector with an external sound bar to provide an even greater immersive experience and even enable an easy transition from golf simulator to home theater solution. To make it more affordable for end-users to enjoy great sound, select channel partners will offer a limited-time $200 discount to end-users buying the ProBeam BU53PST and the LG Eclair soundbar together.

“Whether it’s being used as part of a business solution or for a golf simulator at home, the ProBeam BU53PST delivers stellar visuals for space-constrained projects that demand exceptional performance and capabilities to reliably present any type of content,” Smith added.
