Our review of the Panasonic PT-RZ670BU projector confirms it is a large, heavy and bright commercial business projector that uses a laser light engine.
This isn’t your typical business projector, rather it is a highly flexible projector suitable for use at trade shows, large venue presentations, staging, commercial rental applications and most applications that require 24/7 continuous operation such as retail signage, command and control, etc . This series offers the choice of 7 different lenses including zoom and with fixed focal length models and covering the range from ultra-short throw up to long throw models. Versions of this projector are offered that do not include a lens, but the model PT-RZ670BU projector we reviewed came with a powered zoom lens with a 1.7 to 2.4:1 zoom ratio.
The PT-RZ670BU gets our Hot Product Award by offering a lot of performance and being suitable for continuous 24/7/365 operation in commercial applications.
Panasonic has been selling relatively small/moderate size business projectors for the past couple of years with LED/Laser hybrid light engines, such as the PT-RW430UK (reviewed – HERE), but the PT-RZ670BU is the first “heavy metal” commercial laser-based Panasonic projector we have reviewed. We have however previously reviewed a large commercial high lumens lamp-based projector from Panasonic. That earlier review was for a PT-DZ770UL (reviewed in October 2012 – HERE). That earlier model was a lamp-based (twin lamps) commercial WUXGA projector rated at 7,000 lumens and it received a Hot Product Award.
The PT-RZ670BU reviewed had a black cabinet (i.e., B for black cabinet and a white version is available as the PT-RZ670WU). MSRP is $24,399.00 and is now available from authorized Panasonic projector resellers.
This model not only can be table or ceiling mounted, but can be mounted at virtually any orientation the user desires. The mounting flexibility is further enhanced by the variety of optional lenes ranging from ultra short throw up to long throw models. Using the built-in functions and downloadable “Geometry Manager Pro” software, the geometry of the projected image can be extensively modified for projecting images onto non-flat surfaces and/or odd shaped surfaces. It also supports use in a multi-projector setup with edge blending, brightness and color matching to provide a seamless image.
We wish to thank Epson America for sponsoring this year’s Best Classroom Projectors report, in which this projector is considered.
